BASTIAN: incorporating the Rough Sets theory into a Case-Bases Classifier System

Abstract

This paper proposes how to incorporate the Rough Sets theory as a weighting method into a Case-Based Classifier System. This hybrid system has been implemented into the plat­form called BASTIAN ( case-BAsed SysTem In clAssificatioN), which incorporate both tech­niques. Thus, the main goals of the paper are: present­ing the BASTIAN system, describing the hybrid method; and analysing this proposal for different domains, extracted from the UCI repository.
