Abstract

In the work of George Steiner Antigones plays a singular role. It is his book more philological in a classical sense, offering simultaneously a view over the 19th and 20th century philosophical reception of the Sophocles’ tragedy. This paper tries to analyze its general design and the disposition of its parts reflecting the philosophical interpretations which Steiner himself comments according to a rhetoricalgrammatical methodology. Having been built on a dramatic and musical pattern, its fields of analysis are those of translation, ontology and structural anthropology from Hegel and Hölderlin to Heidegger or Lévi-Strauss. The echoes and the parallelisms between its sections reflect, on the one hand, the dialectical irony of Sören Kierkegaard and, on the other hand, the attention to the details as studied by Jacob Burckhardt or Aby Warburg.

En la producción de George Steiner Antígonas ocupa un lugar singular. Es su obra más filológica en un sentido clásico, al mismo tiempo que ofrece una panorámica de la recepción filosófica de la tragedia de Sófocles, especialmente entre los siglos XIX y XX. Este artículo pretende analizar su dise- ño global y la disposición de sus partes como una proyección de las interpretaciones filosóficas que el mismo Steiner comenta siguiendo el método retórico-gramatical. Construida sobre un molde tanto dramático como musical, sus campos de análisis se mueven entre la traducción, la ontología y la antropología estructuralista, desde Hegel y Hölderlin a Heidegger o Lévi-Strauss. Los ecos y los paralelismos entre sus secciones reflejan tanto una ironía dialéctica a la manera de Sören Kierkegaard como la atención al detalle, tal como lo estudian Jacob Burckhardt o Aby Warburg.
